Panel Discussion on Bushfire Causation and Remediation Presentation
Interesting speakers and excellent networking opportunities - drinks on us from 6:30 upstairs, then dinner and our speakers.
Session 1: Approaches to an Expert System/AI Guide for Forensic Assessments
Three short presentations by Peter Hart, Jas Babalija and Hugh Hurren will describe work being done by Hartwood to develop ‘expert systems’ for assistance in identifying and ranking of possible scenarios for fire and mechanical failure events. Additionally, the presentation will propose a scale for use by forensic experts to quantify subjective descriptive assessments when uncertainty is involved. The presentation will also describe a model that is intended to assist lawyers to understand the ranking of factors relevant to allocation of responsibility when a failure occurs.
Session 2: Panel Discussion on Bushfire Causation and Remediation
This is a led discussion (by some members with bushfire experience) with the audience about what is known about bushfire causation in Australia. The discussion will also cover whether forensic practitioners would assist with assessments or guidance that will assist with remediation of properties.
